Four-Year-Old Essex Daughter – Available March 2026
We will have a lovely four-year-old female available in March for placement in a retirement home. She thrives in a calm, structured household and would do best without small dogs or other female dogs. She enjoys appropriate play and does very well with Essex.
She is leash-trained, crate-trained, and house-trained, and settles beautifully into a predictable routine. Affectionate and steady, she is happiest in a peaceful home environment where she can relax and enjoy her people without constant day-to-day chaos.
She would make a wonderful companion for the right home seeking a well-mannered, easygoing adult dog.
Retirement Dogs
On occasion we place adults, usually between the age of 2 & 5.
Every good breeder knows what number of dogs they never want to exceed, sacrificing the attention and care each dog is given.
We must limit in all fairness in our home the number of dogs that live with us. Each dog requires love, care, and most important time. If we kept every dog we simply would have too many dogs under our roof.
Therefore, as responsible breeders, we care enough for the dogs that have worked hard to help us improve the breed, to know when to retire them into a loving family home. A retirement home they can receive 100% of the attention they deserve. We love them enough to let them go.
The benefits of a retirement/placement dog are many. An adult dog is trained and a good alternative for prospective owners that work, and may not have time for a puppy. Many are prized AKC champions or AKC pointed and Health Tested.
Next time you wonder why a breeder wants to place an adult (as a companion NOT for breeding) remember it is not because they are unwanted children, on the contrary they have been loved and cared for and now can have the devoted love and affection of a retirement family.
We love our extended families that have our kids placed with them. With a lump in our throat and tear in my eye when they move to a furever home, we are always grateful. The phone calls and pictures remind us what wonderful lives they lead with the families that now love them too.
